【2023. 11. 23】国際教養大学の学生団体V-ACTと「対等な関係での国際協力」について対談しました！/ Discussion about "What is 'Equal Relationship' in International Cooperation?" with V-ACT, Students at Akita International University

2023年11月23日、秋田県に位置する国際教養大学にて、フィリピンの住民との国際協力を行ってきた学生団体 V-ACT と対談をしました。
対談の内容は、「対等な関係での国際協力」について。このテーマは、当プロジェクトでも大切にしている日本とタイの「学び合い」の考え方と大きく関連しており、また学生団体 V-ACTの活動理念でもあるそうです。実際にフィリピンの農村部や都市部へ足を運び、活動・協力の在り方を考える中で、様々なもやもや（「どうして対等な関係に自分たちはこだわっているのか？」「どのような活動が対等でどのような活動が対等でないのか？」「お金や物品の提供は対等な関係といえないのではないのか」「対等な関係を相手に押しつけるのは対等とはいえないのではないのか」）等が生まれており、そのような問いに真剣に向き合っている様子がうかがえました。
当プロジェクトの実施・運営においても重視している「エンパワメント・アプローチ」「ツイントラック・アプローチ」「ネットワーキング・アプローチ」の視点を紹介し、「対等な関係での国際協力」という明確な答えのない問いについて、一緒に意見を出し合いながら考えさせていただきました。

On November 23, a dialogue session was held at Akita International University through the invitation by V-ACT, a student organisation that has been engaged in international collaboration with the residents of the Philippines.
The content of the dialogue was about 'International Cooperation on an Equal Footing.' This theme is closely related to one of this project's concepts, "learning with each other" between Japan and Thailand, and is also the organization's philosophy for V-ACT. Through real experiences visiting rural and urban areas in the Philippines, the students have faced various questions without clear answers while thinking about the approaches and activities for building up cooperation on equal footing.
We introduced three perspectives; 'Empowerment Approach', 'Twin-track Approach', and 'Networking Approach', which this project utilizes in project management to promote community-based elderly care in Thailand through each local authorities' ownership and initiatives. The students raised and shared sharp perspectives/impressive opinions, and we could have a great discussion to further think about 'equal relationships' in the context of international cooperation, from both 'ideal' and 'reality' aspects.
